Posted onExploring Glendale School’s House System: Inspiring Collaboration through Science and Technology
At Glendale Sciences and Technology School, our vibrant house system is a cornerstone of community building, engagement, and learning. Rooted in our focus on science and technology, the house system brings together students and staff to celebrate our shared values, foster collaboration, and inspire achievement.
Meet Our Houses
The Glendale School house system features four houses, each named after dynamic careers in the fields of science and technology:
Architects: Visionaries who design and construct the world around us, blending creativity with technical precision.
Astronomers: Explorers of the universe, unlocking the mysteries of the stars and galaxies.
Engineers: Innovators who solve problems and create technologies to shape the future.
Chemists: Scientists who investigate the building blocks of matter, driving discoveries that impact our everyday lives.
Each student and staff member belongs to one of these houses, creating a unique sense of belonging and teamwork. The house names reflect our commitment to inspiring curiosity, critical thinking, and innovation—values that are central to our school’s science and technology focus.
Earning Points through ARMOUR Traits
Our house system isn’t just about friendly competition; it’s about embodying the values that make our school community strong. Throughout the day, students and staff earn points for their houses by demonstrating our ARMOUR Traits:
Achievement: Striving for personal and academic excellence.
Respect: Valuing ourselves, others, and our environment.
Mindfulness: Being present and aware in our actions and interactions.
Openness: Embracing new ideas and perspectives.
Unity: Working together to build a supportive community.
Resiliency: Persevering through challenges with determination and grit.
Whether it’s through academic accomplishments, acts of kindness, or teamwork, every contribution strengthens the bond within each house and reinforces these essential traits.
House Assemblies and Challenges
Our house system comes to life during school assemblies, where students and staff gather to celebrate achievements, share successes, and participate in house challenges. These challenges are designed to highlight one of the ARMOUR Traits, allowing houses to work together, showcase their strengths, and have fun while learning important life skills.
From STEM-based problem-solving tasks to creative group projects, these challenges are tailored to reflect our school’s science and technology focus while encouraging collaboration and resilience. Winning a house challenge earns points, but more importantly, it strengthens our community and builds lasting memories.
Building a Thriving Community
The house system at Glendale School is more than a program—it’s a way of life. By bringing together students and staff across grades, fostering friendly competition, and celebrating shared values, we create an environment where everyone can thrive. Each house is a team, a support system, and a source of inspiration for its members.
Through the lens of science and technology, we’re not just preparing students for future careers; we’re equipping them with the skills, values, and mindset to make a meaningful impact on the world. At Glendale School, the house system is a powerful example of how we unite as a community to learn, grow, and succeed together.
Let’s continue to build, explore, innovate, and discover—one house point at a time!
